How do you hold your staff accountable for their job responsibilities if they aren’t aware of them?  Create a job duties list.  No matter what business you are in, just you or a staff of hundreds, a job duties list in an important tool to use for maximum work output.  Having a structure for your employees to refer to will benefit you and your business.  A list of duties, broken down into a job description and time frame, is a way to delegate duties to your staff.   Some of these include a time specific task list, opening duties, mid-day tasks, and closing duties.  This is great for positions that staff may hold that requires them to work independently.  Or depending on what needs to be accomplished, a daily, weekly or monthly basis list may be a better solution.  Each list should have itemized duties that need to be completed and a place for marking it once it’s been done.   Always allow a time to follow-up on these duties so that ownership of these jobs is taken seriously by staff members.  You will, of course, be following up regardless but this tool will make your job easier to access what expectations there are for your employees.  Pay, commission or another form of job reward such as an employee of the month award may be given once all tasks are complete.  Having a small ‘goody bag’ of items is a fun way of adding rewards to these duties.  A pack of cards, a $5 gift card, candy, candles, key chains are great inexpensive items that may entice your employees to ensure completion of the chart. This is optional however each business should remember the 3-part business model that places equal value on Business, Employee and Customer.  Don’t forget your staff is an extension of you and your business.cleaning duties
